This was an abandoned village in the early 19th century and the reason is still unknown. The village is located 18 km south-west of the Jaisalmer city.
There is an interesting story behind this abandoned village which my driver narrated during the visit.

My Experience Inside the village -

After taking a dusty road towards the village, I noticed minimal vegetation .The afternoon Sun was very fiery as I reached the gates of that abandoned village.
There was uncanny silence all around.
This village was abandoned by the locals 200 years ago.

How a Prosperous Village turned into an abandoned one?

On the way to Kuldhara my cab driver narrated to me the Legend and the curse of abandoned village.

About 200 years ago, Kuldhara was the home to the Paliwal Brahmins. The Diwan of jaisalmer , Salim Singh known for his unethical tax collecting methods set his eyes on a beautiful girl, the daughter of the the village chief.

The Diwan was absolutely hell bent on having the girl and threatened the villagers that he would levy huge taxes on them.

The residence of entire village fled one mysterious dark night, they left their homes and everything with them. No one saw the thousand members of the village leave. They cursed the village when they left , that no one would ever be able to settle down in kuldhara ever again.

The curse stays true till date because the town is barren and uninhabited.

There is still believe that the ghosts of Kuldhara still haunts the place.

While visiting there I didn't witnessed any paranormal activity but I felt a very strange negative energy all around me.

Kuldhara today is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India as a heritage site.
